What is UP CNET 2026?

The UP Common Nursing Entrance Test (UP CNET) is conducted annually by ABVMU for admission to BSc Nursing, Post Basic BSc Nursing, and MSc Nursing programmes across 185 participating institutes in Uttar Pradesh, including some of the top government nursing colleges in the country.

The 2026 exam was held on June 6 in offline (pen-and-paper) mode and consisted of 120 questions to be completed in 140 minutes. Thousands of nursing aspirants from across UP — and from Hindi-belt states — appeared for this exam with the goal of securing a seat in a government nursing college.

UP CNET Counselling 2026 — Dates, Process & What to Expect

The UP CNET counselling 2026 is expected to begin in June 2026 and will be conducted entirely online in three rounds, with a possible mop-up round if seats remain vacant after the third round.

Here is what the counselling process typically looks like:

  1. Counselling registration and fee payment — Candidates pay a security deposit of ₹5,000 (non-refundable if you fail to report to the allotted college)
  2. Choice filling — You fill in your preferred colleges in order of preference
  3. Seat allotment — Based on your rank, category, and choice preferences
  4. Reporting to college — Failure to report by the given date results in forfeiture of the security deposit and loss of the allotted seat
  5. Document verification and fee payment at the allotted institute

Key rule: Unless declared medically fit by the Medical Board constituted by the Government Medical College or the District CMO, a candidate is not eligible to join the course.
